Back In the Loop

Hello, everyone! I hope you've all had a fabulous holiday/Christmas season! I'm back home and ready to jump back into the twitter/blog/writing sphere once again, and I'd like to officially post my goals for 2012 here for all to see. My number one goal for 2012:

GET AN AGENT!!

Or maybe my goal should be--WRITE AN IMPECCABLE, BODACIOUS, FLAWLESS (or close to it) NOVEL so I can finally GET AN AGENT!!

because we all know that what really matters is the writing. Plot, setting, emotion--nailing 'em. Studying what other successful writers have done and tweaking their techniques to fit our style. Pegging down real life, believable, breathing characters who won't leave your mind or your heart even once you put the book down, stories that grow fingers and thread them around your being so they become a part of who you are. That's what really matters. I believe things will fall into place if we as writers do our part, do the WORK to create this realistic, beautiful thing that is a book.

I've been writing seriously for almost four years, and I've always had the goal of getting published, of getting an agent. But as I've gone through the ropes of writing and rejection (how's that for alliteration?) I'm learning there's still so much more for me to do, more for me to learn and more to create to make this work. Those of you out there in the same boat as I am, lets paddle harder this year, even if we have to get our feet in the water and kick! :D

I've heard this before, but I'll say it again--our focus shouldn't be on getting published. It should be on writing a doggone good novel. C'est tout.

  3. It always amazes me at how there is always SO MUCH MORE TO LEARN! But that's what keeps it interesting, right? Or at least that's what I like to tell myself. :D

  8. Ohhhhh... Cort!!!!!!! Love you!!!!!

My goal this year? Is to find balance. Because in my brain, I think if I can balance my life then everything else will fall into place.

Let's let this year be the year for Morg and Cort! It's our agent year!!!! hahaha... deal???? ;)

  13. That's a great goal. I have one quite similar to it, but I think I already have a pretty awesome story. Just need to get all the rough edges off.

    Good luck!
